G. Karteek is an Architect and Urban Designer from India. He finished his Masters in Urban Design from School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi and presently working as an Assistant Professor in School of Planning and Architecture-Vijayawada (SPAV) since 2009. Working with large MNC's in India including Reliance Industries and Sobha Developers in the field of Architecture and Urban Design, he attained high quality professional experience. He was also involved in various eminent projects.
His academic contributions include organizing a 5-day workshop “Rethinking Architecture, Energy Efficiency and Participation in Urban Development” under Global Initiatives of Academic Network (GIAN), MHRD initiative along with Prof. Dr. Markus Schwai, NTNU during August 13- 18, 2017, delivering lecture titled “Cities and Rivers- Tale of Hyderabad and Vijayawada” at Department of Architecture, Universita Di Firenze, Florence, ITALY and organizing several workshops at SPAV. He was selected from the Institute to undertake research at Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim under Global Mobility Programme for a period of three weeks during October 2016. He has also authored technical papers in the field of Architecture and Urban Design and has been nominated as the member of the Scientific Committee in International Conference-Workshop for Sustainable Architecture and Urban Design 2012, organized by School of Built Environment, University Sains Malaysia and International Workshop on Liveable Cities- 2013, organized by Centre for Research Initiatives (CRI), Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, UniversitiSains Malaysia. For his paper presentation at the International Conference on Transportation, Civil and Architectural Engineering (TCAE- 16), LONDON during May 26-27, 2016 he received “Best Paper Award” for the session. He also contributed in organizing several workshops and special lectures at SPAV. Presently he is also the member of the Senate of the School.
He won the “Amaravati Monument Design Competition-2016” for the Capital city of AMARAVATI, Andhra Pradesh organized by Indian Institute of Architects, Andhra Pradesh Chapter. He also participated in several design competitions including the “World Trade Center Memorial, New York” worldwide competition held in 2003. He has been nominated as an External Expert for the Urban Design Technical Committee of APCRDA, Andhra Pradesh and as the Executive Member of the IIA Andhra Pradesh Chapter.
Apart from regular teaching, he has undertaken Institutional Consultancy projects. A few to mention are - Andhra Pradesh Police Martyrs Memorial (2018) for Andhra Pradesh Police, Masterplan and DPR of AP TECHNOPARK for Andhra Pradesh Private Engineering Colleges Management Association (2018) and Masterplan of Kotappakonda Hill for Andhra Pradesh Greening and Beautification Corporation (2018).
His contribution to the Campus was from the very early days of inception of the School since 2009 from framing up requirements to successful organization of National Level Two Stage competition, organizing meetings, reviewing drawings and estimates, preparation of project schedules, advising the competent authority from time to time, and all the necessary co-ordination between CPWD, SPAV and the appointed Architect. He has coordinated the SPAV campus development work as the Member-Secretary of Building and Works Sub-Committee, later as Member of Building Works Advisory Committee, Member of Building and Works Committee and Coordinator, Campus Development.
He is a registered Architect with the Council of Architecture, Associate member of the Institute of Urban Designers-India, Associate member of the Indian Institute of Architects and Associate Member of the Indian Institute of Interior Designers (IIID). He is also a life member with International Association of Academicians and Researchers (INAAR).
