System Dynamics Modelling, Multi-Criteria Decision Models, Correlation and Multiple Regression Analysis, Statistical Applications in Planning using SPSS

Many Scholars have explored various techniques and methods of analysis for evolving devlopment plans and observed that application of System Dynamics Theory and Models are one of the most suitable techniques available for understanding the functions of the system, which is essential for the dynamic planning process. Therefore, System Dynamic models for various subsystems were developed by employing STELLA software 9.1.4. version, to recognize the functions of various sub systems of the system (study area) by considering most important control parameters, which influence the functions of the system. Subsequently, an Integrated Model for Enegry Efficient Sustainable Development was developed. An Integrated Model for Enegry Efficient Sustainable Development Metropotilan Region was developed to look at the system very closely, and its dynamic functions, under different alternative conditions. The Validated System Dynamics model has been employed to project the control parameters, which decide the functions of the system for the projected year 2041 A.D., and thereby the projected year model for the year 2041 A.D. is developed. Further, various socio-economic, infrastructural, and environmental indicators have been measured, and different scenarios under various alterative conditions are generated, based on the historical behavior of the system, survey results of expert’s opinion, and trend analysis, and tested in the Forecasted year model 2041 A.D., by employing simulation techniques for arriving at plausible decisions. Finally, a set of plausible policy planning guidelines is prepared by considering phase wise achievements and requirements in alternative conditions and recommendations are made for Energy Efficient Sustainable Development along with holistic development of the system.

The doctoral research aims at evolving a set of plausible policy planning guidelines for energy efficient sustainable development in the System. In this investigation, Chennai City has been chosen to conduct the research. Energy consumption at the household level, industries, transportation, city level, etc., has been considered. Relevant statistical techniques have been employed to look at the function, and finally system dynamics technique is employed to understand the dynamic functions of the city, forecasting, and simulation, etc., to arrive at policy decisions to evolve the set of plausible policy planning guidelines for energy efficient sustainable development in the System. The following work shall be carried out in future based on the doctoral research. They are:

  1. Development plans shall be evolved based on the output of the present investigation.
  2. To evolve the development plans, the following techniques, such as Statistical Techniques, Operations Research, Artificial Neural Networks, Decision Supportive Systems, Analytical Hierarchy Procedure, etc., can be employed.
  3. Annual plans shall be employed based on the development plans to achieve the aims of the development plans.
  4. To evolve the annual plans, the following techniques, such as Operations Research, Artificial Neural Networks, Decision Supportive Systems, Analytical Hierarchy Procedure, etc., can be employed.
  5. Programs shall be evolved based on the development plans and the annual plans.
  6. Projects/schemes shall be evolved to implement the recommendations of the present investigation; and location analysis, DCF techniques, etc., shall be employed for this purpose.

Besides these, the following areas of research shall be attempted, and they are:
