SPAV Alumni

SPAV ALUMNI ASSOCIATION - EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE 2018-19

Alumni Committee’s Objective is to promote and foster the mutually beneficial relationship among the Alumni, current students, faculty and members of School of Planning and Architecture Vijayawada. The committee also helps in extending the support to Alumni to undertake an active and abiding interest in the work and progress of the Institute. School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada has an Alumni Association registered under the Societies Registration Act 21 of 1860 with certificate of Registration No: 76 of 2014. The Association consist of General Body and Executive Body.

All the Alumni of SPA Vijayawada are the members of general body and an executive committee, to manage the affairs of the Association has elected members of general body forms the executive body.

The objectives of the associations are to
1) To promote and foster mutually beneficial interaction between the Alumni and the Alma mater
2) To encourage the Alumni to take abiding interest in the progress and development of the Alma mater
3) To undertake activities of national building including those of charitable nature
4) To undertake all such lawful activities as are conducive to the attainment of the above objectives
5) To generate corpus at the School of Planning and Architecture Vijayawada for creating better residential/ educational/ recreational facilities for the SPAV community
6) To exchange professional knowledge, organize technical conference, seminars workshops and training courses

The Alumni Committee of SPAV is encouraging and assisting the Alumni Association to undertake an active and abiding interest in the work and progress of the institute in the Alma Matter.

1. Logo Design Competetion
School of Planning and Architecture Vijayawada hosted a LOGO Design Competition for the SPAV Alumni Association, intending to rebrand the SPAV Alumni Association and further boost the connect between the students and the alumni fraternity.

2. The 'SPArks' Initiative

The 'SPArks' initiative was lanched on 17th May to provide a platform for bringing the current students and alumni together through a series of voluntary alumni driven webinars to turn the pandemic crisis into an opportunity for learning and reflection on careers and studies.

1. 'Is an MBA after architecture or Planning the right choice for you?'
A webinar conducted by Dziiliamosia Kapemai, Assistant Manager, Sales and Marketing, Kohler India Corp. (B. Arch, SPAV '16 and MBA, IIM Kozhikode) and Shanmukha Priya Ch., Assistant Manager, Marketing, Total Environment. (B. Arch, SPAV '16 and MBA, BITS Pilani). The webinar was conducted on 23rd May, 2020 with close to hundred attendees including students and recent alumni members. The hosts conducted a presentation and discussion on careers prospects in MBA for architects and planners.

2. 'Foreign Universities for Higher Education'-
A webinar conducted by Abhijit Kumar, Deputy Manager, SBI Capital Markets (B. Plan, SPAV '12 and MBA, Newcastle Business School) and Noorien Bhaidani, Project Manager, AECOM (B. Arch, SPAV '13 and MS Construction Management, Texas A&M University). This webinar was held on 30th May, and revolved around the process and feasilbility to invest in a degree from foreign universities in the US and UK.

3.'DESIGN your future. But How?' –
A webinar conducted by Gautham Varma, Mobility Designer, National Electric Vehicle Sweden (B. Arch, SPAV '13, M. Des, Industrial Design, IIT Bombay, MS in Transportation Systems and Design, Art Centre College of Design). Different design domains were discussed including Industrial Design, Transportation Design, Universities and Application processes, Design shows and post-graduation opportunities. This was held on 13th June, 2020.

4. 'A peek into INTERDISCIPILINARY POLICY careers and more'-
A webinar conducted by Ansu Susan Cherian, Independent Consultant (B. Plan, SPAV '12 and M.Sc. Urban Policy and Governance, TISS Mumbai '14). The webinar was held on 20th June and was based on interdisciplinary design careers after Architecture and Planning in the social sector and beyond, curriculum details, range of specialisations and work opportunities.
