As you are aware that SPA Vijayawada is one of the three institutes of national importance, under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India,offering education in the fields of Planning and Architecture.The School has distinguished itself and has grown as a role model in the professional education offering undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral programmes in the fields of planning and architecture, while at the same time fostering research of a high order in these areas. All efforts are being made to develop the School as a place of excellence for innovation, creativity and research. The School is constantly endeavouring to achieve academic excellence in Architecture and Planning through innovation, creation, inclusion, acquiring and disseminating knowledge using sustainable local and global practices and enhancing the quality of society through responsible Built Environment. Academic ActivitiesAt SPA Vijayawada, academic degree programmes are designed to address and to takeup physical, socio-economic and environmental challenges, so as to achieve future sustenance and hence to cater to the specific needs of the industry and academics. The key objective of these courses is to equip the students with adequate skills required to comprehend various built environment related issues and to analyse physical, socio-economic, cultural, political and ecological dimensions of the human settlements. |  |
Presently the Schoolruns two departments: (1) Department of Planningand (2) Department of Architecture, offering two undergraduate degree programmes viz., Bachelor of PlanningandBachelor of Architecture; and seven postgraduate degree programmes viz., Master of Planning (Urban and Regional Planning), Master of Planning (Environmental Planning and Management), Master of Planning(Transportation & Infrastructure Planning), Master of Architecture (Sustainable Architecture), Master of Architecture (Landscape Architecture), Master of Architecture(Architectural Conservation) and Master of Building Engineering and Management. Besides, doctoral programmes on full time and part time basis are also being offered in both the departments. | |
Academic Facilities
Quality of instruction and research is the primary focus of the School. Faculty has been contributing towards the enrichment of the academic programmes through their sustained efforts. The Institute has a dynamic mix of eminent faculty having experience in planning, architecture and allied fields of knowledge. Faculty members are constantly involved in various academics, research and developmental activities of the School.SPAV has been constantly fostering research environment by actively encouraging students to takeup research in several emerging areas. To provide exposure to our students to best practices in the world, our School has entered into Memorandum of Understanding with several reputed national and international institutions.
