Abdul Razak Mohamed, Professor , Dept of Planning, SPA Vijayawada Urban and regional planner with a basic master’s degree in Sociology, recently completed Executive Masters in e-Governance form Ecole Polytechnic, Lausanne, Switzerland. The other educational qualification includes (a) As an AsuAID award winner completed Ph.D in urban and regional planning from RMIT UNIVERSITY, MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA., (b) M. Phil Sociology, from UNIVERSITY OF MADRAS, (c) M.T.P., masters in Town and Country Planning, from School of Architecture and Planning, ANNA UNIVERSITY, Chennai (d) M.A. Sociology from M.K.UNIVERSITY, MADURAI (e) PGDHRM Human Resource Management IGNOU, NEW DELHI and (f) PMADPS Population Studies, UNIVERSITY OF MADRAS.
Dr Razak specialized in the subject’s areas such as Urban and Rural Sociology, Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Education, Tourism Planning, Disaster Management, Universal Design and Accessibility, Participatory Planning, Research Methodology, Governance and E-governance.

Dr Razak is a Life Member of the Indian Sociological Society, New Delhi, India and Institute of Town Planners, India, New Delhi, India. He is also hold a Membership in the Research Committee on Housing and Built environment, International Sociological Association as well a Member of the International Network of Urban Research and Action (INURA), Germany and International Social Sciences Research Network. UK.

Previously Dr. Razak worked as (a) Faculty member of the Dept. of urban planning, School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi for 13 years, (b) PROFESSOR, TOWN PLANNING for 7 yrs and Professor and Head for 3 years with the DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING, SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE AND PLANNING, ANNA UNIVERSITY, SARDAR PATEL ROAD, CHENNAI. 600 025, TAMIL NADU, INDIA. Currently working as PROFESSOR and Head, Dept. of PLANNING since Jan 2014 with the DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING, (DEAN of Studies from March 2014 to April 2015) SCHOOL OF PLANNING AND ARCHITECTURE, VIJYAWADA (SPAV), ANDHRA PRADESH, INDIA.

About 40 research articles in the national and international journals and about 15 international conference and 25 national conferences attended. Chapters wrote in about 10 books on Sociology, Town Planning, Environment Education, and e-Governance subjects. Wrote about 5 resource books on Research Methodology, Urban Planning and Urban Sociology, Disability and City Planning. Published number of popular news paper articles, interviews and letter to the editor are also adds to his credit. Wrote Environment Education booklets for school children and teachers on Neighbourhood, Water Conservation, Floods and Droughts, Trees in Urban Environment and Environmental Exhibits in Schools. Organized around 6 international conferences and 15 national conference on various issues.

Dr. Razak worked with the University of Tours, France as a Visiting professor during Jan-Feb 2013.
He is instrumental towards signing MOU with many universities such as University of Tours, France, FINDLEY UNIVERSITY, OHIO USA. Ecole Bleue International Design School Paris etc towards academic programs such as students and teacher exchange, collaborative research etc. Dr Razak received number of awards which includes (1) AusAID Award winner for undertaking Ph.D work at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia for the year 1997-2000, (2) Community Service Award (Certificate and 1000 Australian $) winner for the 2000 from the RMIT International for the leadership and commendable work done for the international students community at RMIT University, and (30 Swiss International Development Agency Award for the year 2007-2008 for participating Executive Masters in e-Governance course (one year part time) organized by the Ecole Polytecnnique, Lausanne, Switzerland.

In his credit he visited more than 18 countries and 30 cities around the World. His Extra Curricular Activities consists of Traveling, Reading News Paper, Writing popular articles and letter to editors for daily news papers, Watching TV and Photography. Writing popular and research articles as a Columnist every week at the HANS INDIA, Vijayawada Edition news paper Tabloid VIJAYWADA HANS on various aspects of education, urban and regional development, managing cities, tourism, habitat and built environment, e-governance. Since Oct 2014 there are 30 articles published and the contribution continues. Large number of Invited Special articles and interviews published in daily news papers such as The Hindu, Times of India, Deccan Chronicle, Hans India from Delhi, Chennai and Vijayawada. Also special articles and interviews published in India Today and Outlook Magazines.
